What are PDO Threads?

PDO threads

PDO threads are polydioxanone threads which are used to lift or plump out she skin to give a more youthful appearance, reduce sagging & lines & wrinkles. They are made from absorbable sutures and are inserted into the skin in such a way to either build collagen in the area or ‘lift’ areas of concern.

There are a variety of threads available some are to help to build collagen & others are to give maximum lifting results.

After a full consultation & assessment I will decide on the best pattern & type of threads to use to achieve maximum results for each patient individually. Threads are places strategically to achieve the desired results.

Sometimes it may be necessary to combine PDO threads with other procedures. This will be on a case by case basis.

Benefits of PDO Threads

Some of the benefits of using PDO threads are as follows:

  • Help to lift skin that has started to lose laxity.
  • Form new collagen giving strength, support & structure under the skin.
  • Stimulate growth factors within the skin.
  • It is a less invasive form of cosmetic aesthetics than traditional cosmetic surgery.
  • Stimulate fibroblast activity which will help with overall improvement of skin quality & youthful appearance.
  • It will give a natural result.
  • Can be combined with a variety of other aesthetics procedures to give incredible results  which will in many cases mean that people can get the results they desire without the need for more invasive cosmetic surgery.

Factors that effect/increase signs of ageing

The process of ageing is inevitable BUT it can be sped up by a number of factors. Both intrinsic & extrinsic factors meaning some genetic internal factors that cannot be controlled such as inherited genes or some lifestyle choices that we make throughout life times which can reduce cell functionality & being on the visible signs of ageing earlier.

Some of these lifestyle factors are:

Nutritional choices, eating a health diet that is nutritionally balanced & contains all of the vitamins & minerals we require to have a health body both internally & externally.

Hydration levels, staying hydrated is KEY for our bodies health, it effects us at a cellar level & our skin will suffer if we do not maintain our hydration levels.

Alcohol consumption, recreational substance abuse & prescription medications, I have grouped these together as they all have a chemical effect again at a cellular level on the body & skin. Any unnatural substances introduced to the body can have a detrimental effect on it and one of these is the onset of early signs or progression of visual ageing.

Skin care, looking after the skin is essential. It is the largest organ of the body & it is constantly changing to remain the bodies first line of defends to external factors that may present a threat. It helps to maintain hydration’s. Regulate the temperature & helps us to navigate the physical world safely with the function of our nervous system signalling us one heat & touch. If we do not maintain our skins health all of these things will suffer and aesthetically we will begin to deteriorate too.

Sun exposure/abuse, subjecting the skin to harmful UVA & UVB rays will take its toll on the skin. Repeated abuse will undoubtedly cause most people to age prematurely. Not to mention the increased & very real risk of skin cancers. Using an spf daily all year and being savvy with sun exposure will help decrease risks to the health of tour skin and keep it looking younger for longer.

Find a knowledgeable skin practitioner & visit for regular check ups/treatments.

Tip *For optimal skin monthly but at the very least 4 times a year, try to match this up with seasonal changes which will effect the skin barrier
