Boy Wonder fashion

We love to discover new brands and the boy-only brand, Boy Wonder, is a British-made premium boys wear brand with ethics and sustainability at it’s heart.
Featuring hand-drawn prints and certified organic British-made cloth. it is stereo-type free and full of quirky British nostalgia.
The brand is launching a paired-down collection on Kickstarter on: 6th December 2019 at 11am GMT. Readers can pre-order the collection pieces before the retail website is launched in 2020. The certified organic fabrics are made in Leicester by living wage employer Discovery Knitting and the garments are made ethically in Leicester by Fine Knit UK. The hand-drawn prints are inspired by childhood memories and British heritage and are influenced by Scandinavian repeat print designers.
The collection has new prices and special offers and consists of short-sleeved t-shirts at £35, long sleeved t-shirts at £40 and sweatshirts at £55. The size range is 5-10 years. The MD, founder & designer of Boy Wonder is Ismay Mummery, a post-grad of LCF, mum and blogger. She was inspired to start the business after struggling to find fun, ethical clothing for her son who is the muse and model for the campaign.
“I wish big brands with many times the resources would put even half the thought and care into ethics and sustainability that Boy Wonder has.” Amy L Warman.
Boy Wonder was included in Drapers’ Childrenswear brands to watch in August 2019 and in a double page featuring issue 6 of Future Textile magazine. The brand was also a finalist for the Blue Patch Sustainable Business and People’s Prize Awards. The blog site has received over 40,000 visitors & reaches over 71 countries.
Ismay is a fashion designer mum with a passion for the environment. After working in graphics for some years following her BA she graduated with a master’s degree from London College of Fashion. Ismay went on to work as a designer both in-house and freelance for various small companies including a brief stint at Firetrap. Designing for men’s, women’s and children’s wear, print design become her specialism. She always wanted to start her own business and having her son made her see a potential gap in the market. After caring for her late husband she decided to give her dream a chance and so in 2016 the Boy Wonder blog began. The blog tells the story of setting up the business and her research into ethical and sustainable fashion and green issues. Her son is now 9 years old and loves Lego, video games and swimming. He loves the bright colours and prints in the collection but isn’t so keen on the dungarees!
Thank you for sharing your story Ismay we love your designs and wish you success.
