Tips for cleaning your home
Like many people over the past year of lockdown, we have had more time at home to try and have a good clear out, clean up and declutter. With Spring often comes the big Spring clean! Cleaning can often feel overwhelming and feel like a huge chore but it doesn’t have to be.
If you are really overwhelmed by it and don’t know where to start you could hire in a professional cleaning company – this is a stress and worry free way of making sure your home is given a thorough deep clean all over. Once you know that the house is clean then you can begin with the decluttering and reorganising.
Start room by room
Many of us make the mistake of taking on too much at once. Tackle one room at a time – gradually going through cupboards and drawers. If there is anything that you no longer use consider donating it to charity or selling it online. Give you storage a good clean before you put things away again. Once you have decluttered you’ll feel a huge weight off of your mind.
Give your floors a good hoover getting into all of the corners and underneath furniture. If you have pets a special carpet brush can really help get all of the hairs up. Biological powder makes a great carpet freshener and gets rid of any smells too. If you have laminate floors give them a clean with a damp mop.
Ceilings and walls
Get rid of any cobwebs and dust with a feather duster and give the skirtings a wipe over with a damp cloth too. Dust any shelves with a cloth and polish to make the room smell lovely.
Let all of the natural light in and give the windows and mirrors a good clean. There are plenty of products to use but newspaper and vinegar works amazingly well.
Kitchen and bathroom
Give all of the surfaces a good clean with disinfectant – I actually really like the smell of a freshly bleached bathroom! Tough jobs like the oven may feel daunting but there are many cleaning products that well help move nay stubborn grime.
Keep on top of things
Try and set aside a little bit of time in your week to keep on top of things. It is very easy to let things pile up, especially the laundry. A little time each day will really help.
