Dating with a disability

Have you been thinking about dating during lock down? Maybe now is the time to put your dating plan into action! It’s been a difficult time only being able to have online relationships and not meeting face to face but now the restrictions have been lifted, you can now go out for a meal, walk or explore.

However you still need to try and find that perfect partner and there are some amazing Disabled dating sites UK and they take into consideration any chronic illnesses and specific disabilities such as amputees, deaf dating and much more. If you want some top tips to finding love online, check out this great guide or you can look at the YouTube channel that focuses solely on dating with a range of disabilities.

Remember that safety is key when dating and meeting people you don’t know,  let a loved one know where you are going and check in on your return.

I am going to share my top five dates:

National parks

They have 204 routes specified as suitable for those with access challenges.

Once there you can walk, take beautiful photographs and bird watch as the national parks are home to some of the rarest birds in Europe, and offer some of the best birdwatching opportunities in the UK. Whether you’re an avid twitcher, or simply want to identify bird species on your family walk, you’ll be amazed at the sheer diversity on display!

Board game bazaar

No I’m not talking about a boring work meeting sat around a big table, I’m talking about dragging out a selection of your old school board games and enjoy an afternoon or evening of healthy competition, enjoying games such as monopoly, connect four or backgammon.

They make perfect first date locations and tend to be full of people if you are nervous about meeting someone for the first time.

If you don’t want to go to a formal dinner, maybe suggest a brunch date or light lunch at a bistro. If you know your date has specific needs, you can call ahead to make sure the venue can cater for your needs.

Get creative in the kitchen

If you don’t fancy going out to a restaurant, why not bring the restaurant to you! You could do a themed night, such as Mexican with tortillas & salsa, quesadilla and churro for dessert or how about Italian? with a mozzarella and tomato starter, lasagne followed by gelato. You could even suggest watching a movie afterwards following your chosen theme.

Adventure time

After lockdown, how about enjoying an adventure with your new date? There are lots of accessible adventures to enjoy, such as kayaking and water adventures or try bike/trike riding, wheelchair hire to go over new terrain.

Set yourself a new challenge with your new date and agree to do something you both have never done before.

Remember to have fun, stay safe and enjoy yourself.
